Dear Moderator,
For my A2 Media coursework the task was to create a music video as part of a promtoional package with two of the following a digipak, promotional poster or a website. From these i chose to create a website and digipak.
I worked with my class mate Hollie to create the video. which we then chose to use the song 'Latchmere' by The Maccabees, as we both really liked the song and thought it would appeal to many people who were interested in the indie genre.
We chose to do indie as a genre because we both listen to the genre anyway so we know a lot of the codes and conventions as well as the ways in which the music is promoted to us. Many people who enjoy indie as a genre are younger people (not exclusively) so we thought this would be good for us to do because we would know how to relate to our audience and the ways in which to advertise to them and collect audience feedback.

Feedback from Video
After we had completed the video I decided to get my target audience to watch the video and to then tell me what they liked, disliked and what could be improved about the video if we were to do it again. From this feedback it help to then answer my 3rd evaluation question.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stage?
At the planning stage of the music video I used movie maker to create a animated storyboard, using movie maker was really simple and really useful to then match up our actual music video. I also used blogger to plan the casting list and extra information. Also for planning I just used blog posts, this was for casting list, location, equipment and talking about the age rating for the music video. This is a simple way to let you know the specific details of the planning that went into the video. I feel I could of been more creative and used another for of media technology, which presents the information better. Planning for the ancillary tasks, I used serif page plus for my digipak, this was a good use of media technology because I can use my skills from the AS course work with manipulating pictures and text. This also shows a clear layout of what I have done and it is easy to change and do different drafts to show how I have developed throughout the course. The software is easy to use as I have previously used it in other projects.
For the construction stage of the project Hollie and I have used a mac computer with the software, final cut pro, this is an editing program which enables us to put together clips we have filmed and edit them to then make the music video. This software is very good quality however the time it takes to edit and render the clips it does take up a lot of time. This software is also quite complicated when you are using it for the first time. Another form of media technology we used was a camera canon 700D, this is the camera we used to film our clips on when we went to London, it is a simple camera to use but quality is very good for filming long amounts of footage. I then used photo shop to edit and manipulate photos to make them link to the music video and the style of the band for the digipak and website. I used the photoshop from on serif page plus as I could the easily transfer the pictures onto the template for the digipak but also save the pages as images, which could then be transferred onto the website. The media technology I used for my website was website called 'wix' which helps
you to create you're own site. This was recommended by a teacher as its a simple software and is also easy to access for teachers so they are able to give us feedback for improvements.
To present my evaluation questions I have chosen for question 1 to use a Prezi as I thought this would be the best format for the question, this is a presentation software which you can easily navigate around. To show my variety of Media technologies I have also decided to do a directors commentary for question 3 as audience feedback. By getting someone to watch the music video and film them watching it and then answering a few questions for audience feedback I think this will be different to then writing out another presentation or blog post. This is also simple to do, I will either use my phone or camera to film then which I will put onto the computer and upload to Blogger. For my question 2 I am going to use again serif as use of media technology as it will be able to present my question as a poster so you are able to look at all my projects in one document so you can see a clear link between all tasks. We have also used youtube as a form of media technology to upload out music video to the blog.

I used YouTube to research the different styles of music videos to find out what genre of music best suited us and what style we wanted to make our video. Audience Research
Survey Monkey:
Hollie and I created a survey using Survey Monkey so we could get an idea of what our audience looks for in a Indie Music Video and what they would like to see in the video. We also asked about the ancillary tasks, the digipak and the website home page, so that we could reach out to our target audience and cater to our audience.

From doing this survey we are able to get result in graphs and charts. This will help us to evaluate our research and know what to do to make our products best suited to our audience.
